In Mt Airy, garden centers are busiest on spring weekends, when new stock arrives and popular plants sell out; weekday mornings are calmer and staff have more time to answer questions. Ask which plants are hardy for your USDA zone in Maryland, whether trees and shrubs carry a replacement guarantee (one year is common), and whether the nursery delivers and plants large items. Many nurseries close or shorten hours in winter, so check the listing for current hours and Google rating before you go.

I've been coming to Young's for every hardware need for years, they usually have exactly what I'm looking for no matter how obscure the bolt size or fitting. The nursery is a similar story, always fresh with a huge variety! Steve and his dad are some of the kindest people I have ever met, their store is a gem in the community. I don't bother going anywhere else if Young's has what I need!

The owners are so nice. Beautiful flowers and trees. So important to buy from small businesses. Also the hardware store is packed with so much.

Good prices for many items a DIY repair requires as well as for professional tradespersons. Try them if you are a regular Lowe's or Home Depot customer.

Young's is an awesome little nursery with a lot more than you think when you drive up. The owner is very helpful and friendly. We return there every year in the spring to get our gardens dressed up with plants and flowers. Great place!

Their Coleus, sweet Potato Vines, and Lamium are especially beautiful this year! The vegetables look great and are $2.50. Good deal. We also got several shrubs this year! We always love shopping here and get our scoops of mulch too!
